"Target Free Friday Nights" starts at 4pm and ends at 8pm (which is when the museum closes). You can pick up your free ticket at the ticket counters. If you go during other hours, the general admission price is $20 and the student admission price is $12.
Some special events/exhibitions have timed tickets and tend to "sell out" their limited quantity of tickets during the free admission times. If you want to go check out a special event/exhibition, such as the Tim Burton one that is going on until April 26, 2010, be sure to get to the museum right at 4pm for your ticket as they are distributed on a first come first serve basis.
Even if you're not a fan of the arts (boo to you... sorry for judging), this is a great idea for something to do on a rainy or freezing cold evening.
So, go get a little cultured at the MoMA!

I was just going to suggest the MoMA in your last post but you beat me to it! Also, the MET is "suggested" admisiion, meaning you can pay whatever you want. As are lots of other museums. Central Park Zoo is "pay what you wish" donations on Wednesdays, full price admission is $10 for adults not on Wednesdays. Also, the museum at FIT is free if you want to indulge your inner fashionista. New York Comedy Club has $10 Sun-Thurs tickets for a good laugh. Loews theaters have $6 movie tickets for matinee showtimes, if you feel like watching a movie before lunch. Pottery painting at Make. Year pass is $36 but then when you go, you only pay for your pottery and they are sometimes reasonably priced. Also have ladies night with wine! Ok, I'm out of ideas for now. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! Thanks! I will have to follow up with them. I had another great idea and spent two hours researching/writing on it for next week and this damn website/my broken internet deleted the whole thing! I am fuming. It's hilariously aggravating.
